The Trawool Estate

Where nature & luxury meet.

An oasis overlooking the National Trust listed Trawool Valley, The Trawool Estate is an iconic property where locals gather and visitors experience a unique getaway among nature. Acquired in 2019 by a local family passionate about breathing new life into this historic building, every space has undergone significant beautification.

20 boutique hotel rooms in the main building are available to book a getaway in style. For those after family accommodation, we have 7 two-room spaces (Valley Rooms) available with uninterrupted views of the Trawool landscape.

Executive Chef Athol Wark (formally of El Questro) shares his love of Wild Foods with the exciting update of Wild Water restaurant, proudly named after the translation of the local Taungurung word Traawool. Serving beautiful Australian dishes with notes of indigenous flavours, we aim to highlight the best locally sourced produce.

The Herb Garden Pizzeria has arguably the best view, sitting alongside the Great Victorian Rail Trail, this outdoor dining space with our beloved Polito woodfired oven Dottie, boasts a casual vibe whilst enjoying your pizza and frozen margaritas.

Granite Bar is our casual bar where you catch up with friends, enjoy the game on the TV’s or grab a bite to eat in front of the open fireplace. We’ve kept many of the original features and all the charm of this 1870’s watering hole, as well as carefully curating a wine list which features a selection from the local vineyards, as well as Australian and international drops.

The Terrace is the ideal place for you to say “I do” or host that amazing outdoor event! Set across the road from the main building, nestled into the Warrigul Rocks bush surrounds, our tiered amphitheater-style space with Astroturf for all-weather weddings and events, makes for a magical and unique place.

Trawool is intent on supporting their community, so menus will highlight the very best of produce and wine sourced from the surrounding areas. Families will love the expansive grounds to roam – with a solar heated outdoor pool, tennis and multipurpose courts and expansive grounds for kids to explore. Adventurers can get their fix with horse-riding and bush walking and finish the day off with a delicious meal or glass or wine under the stars.
